EVENTS INTERN, BRITISH ECOLOGICAL SOCIETY

The British Ecological Society (BES) is looking for two Events Interns to join its Events Team and help deliver its Annual Meeting, Europe’s largest ecology event, bringing together over 1,500 ecologists from around the world. The 2025 edition, taking place in Edinburgh this December, includes both in-person and online sessions.
This is a paid internship ideal for someone who wants to build hands-on experience in event planning and delivery, develop key skills and gain insight into managing large-scale events.
About the Role
As an Events Intern, you’ll work closely with the Events Manager to support the planning and smooth running of the Annual Meeting. From handling delegate queries to preparing conference materials and assisting onsite in Edinburgh, you’ll play a key part in making this major event happen.
Key Responsibilities
Manage bookings, confirmation emails, certificates and receipts via the CRM system
Reply to delegate queries through the team inbox
Prepare pre-conference information packs for attendees
Organise orders and deliveries for conference materials
Support content gathering for the online agenda and event platform
Take ownership of a specific element of the Annual Meeting
Assist with setting up and running the online event platform
Provide delegate support onsite and online during the event
Update event pages on the BES website
Create materials to help promote and deliver the event
