[CLOSED] Social Media Manager, MERKY
About the Role
#Merky is looking for a Social Manager to lead the planning, creation and delivery of content across MerkyWrld's social channels.
You'll be responsible for developing engaging content, managing content calendars and building online communities that reflect the creativity, quality and cultural relevance of the Merky brand. Working closely with the wider team, you'll support campaigns, book launches, partnerships, events and community initiatives while helping grow Merky's digital presence.
What You'll Do
Social Media Strategy & Content
• Own the planning and coordination of MerkyWrld's social media channels
• Build and manage content calendars around campaigns, launches, events and key cultural moments
• Create engaging content including copy, graphics, carousels and light motion assets
• Adapt campaign creative into platform specific content across Instagram, LinkedIn and other channels
• Schedule and publish content using approved social media management platforms
• Ensure all content is delivered on time, on brand and to a consistently high standard
• Monitor performance and provide recommendations to improve engagement, growth and reach
• Identify opportunities for paid social activity and boosted content to maximise campaign performance
Community Management
• Build and engage Merky's online communities through authentic and timely interaction
• Monitor comments, messages and conversations across social channels
• Respond to community enquiries where appropriate and escalate opportunities to the wider team
• Engage with authors, partners, talent and relevant cultural conversations to strengthen the Merky brand
Creative Content
• Design visually engaging assets for social media and digital platforms
• Develop reusable templates and creative systems that improve consistency
• Capture photography and short form video content at launches, workshops, author events and community activities
• Brief and manage freelance photographers, designers and content creators when required
• Maintain organised digital asset libraries, reporting dashboards and content calendars
Who This Is For
• Candidates with experience managing social media for a brand, publisher, charity or creative organisation
• Strong content creators with excellent copywriting and storytelling skills
• Professionals with experience designing digital content using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or similar tools
• Organised individuals who can manage multiple projects and stakeholders
• People passionate about books, creativity, culture and storytelling
Bonus If You Have
• Experience within publishing, media, music, fashion or the creative industries
• Photography and video editing skills
• Experience with social media scheduling and analytics platforms
• Experience managing freelance creatives or agencies
• Knowledge of SEO and website optimisation
• Understanding of Gen Z audiences and contemporary British culture
